G’Anne Thomas, Au.D.
Owner, Doctor of Audiology
Dr. G’Anne Thomas, a 30-year veteran in the field, has been serving Athens and the surrounding communities since 1988. She received her undergraduate degree in speech pathology and her graduate degree in audiology from the University of Montevallo in Montevallo, Alabama, near her hometown of Birmingham.
She received her doctorate in audiology from Arizona School of Health Sciences in Mesa in 2000. She worked in hospitals and with ear, nose, and throat physicians before opening her private practice in 2003. She is licensed by the state of Georgia in audiology and is a founding member of the American Academy of Audiology (AAA). She holds memberships in the Georgia Academy of Audiology (GAA) and the Academy of Doctors of Audiology (ADA), and she is certified by the American Institute of Balance (AIB) and the Tinnitus Practitioners Association (TPA).
Dr. Thomas lives in Watkinsville with her husband and has two grown children; the youngest serves in the United States Air Force. Outside of audiology, her passions include travel, leaded and fused glass, and spending time with her three grandchildren.
Glen Johnson, M.Ed
Glen Johnson, a native of Tennessee, has made his home here in Georgia for the past 17 years, where he worked as the audiologist at the Toccoa Clinic in Toccoa, GA, before joining the Hearing and Balance Clinics in our Lavonia and Clarkesville locations.
Glen holds a master’s degree in audiology from East Tennessee University. He is a veteran of the United States Army. He enjoys boating in his free time as well as traveling. With over 40 years of experience working with the hearing-impaired population, we are pleased to have him as part of our team.
Nathan Griffin, Au.D.
Doctor of Audiology
Dr. Nathan K. Griffin is a clinical audiologist from Southeast Texas who completed both his Bachelors in Speech and Hearing Sciences and his Doctorate of Audiology at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. Dr. Griffin completed his fourth-year externship in East Tennessee at an ENT office where he was able to become proficient in his clinical skills. He joined the Hearing and Balance clinic in June 2021 and serves the patients in Watkinsville, Lavonia, and Loganville.
Dr. Griffin is a member of the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) where he has been awarded his Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology. He currently is a licensed audiologist in the state of Georgia. His experience in the field ranges from medical settings to private practices. Dr. Griffin has experience working with patients of all ages. He is proficient in comprehensive audiometric evaluations for both adult and pediatric patients, vestibular diagnostics, hearing aid evaluations, hearing aid fittings, and hearing aid follow-up care utilizing best practices.
In his free time, Dr. Griffin enjoys playing with his dog, Sutton, and spending weekends back in East Tennessee with his friends. He enjoys outdoor photography, biking, nature trails, and traveling the world to experience different cultures.
